Last Minute Goal Salvages Tie Against Brooks

10/7/2019 9:51:00 AM

Middlesex Girls' Soccer hosted Brooks on a glorious autumn afternoon at Chapel Field.

The girls came out playing a good possession game, but were unable to create any strong scoring chances. Brooks countered with a late goal in the first half to take a 1-0 lead at the break.

Halftime served Middlesex well, as they took the field with renewed determination and urgency to their game. They played most of the second inside of Brooks' half of the field, but the offense continued to be stymied on all scoring chances. Just when it seemed that all hope was lost, a foul was called just over half field, resulting in one final free kick for Middlesex. Carly Tilson '20 lined the ball up, and hit an astonishingly strong and accurate shot that flew over the Brooks goalie and just under the crossbar to salvage the draw. This was an unbelievable ending to a strong game from Middlesex.

Next week, Middlesex travels up to Byfield on Tuesday to take on Governor's Academy.
