Notes:            A chilly autumn morning gave way to an idyllic afternoon for the annual ISL tilt between Middlesex and Brooks in front of a strong crowd. The first half ended at 0-0, but not for a lack of chances including a phenomenal double-save of a Coll Sutherland penalty kick and follow up by Middlesex keeper Alfonso DeVito. Middlesex created little in terms of chances in the first half and considered themselves fortunate that the game was still tied. Less than two minutes after halftime that changed as Andres Rosas slotted a ball into Christian Bejar, who had slipped past his recovering marker, and Bejar benefitted from a collision between the retreating defender and keeper for an open net finish. Middlesex found their wits after conceding and put consistent pressure on the Brooks goal and kept the ball in that half for long stretches. Keeper JJ Calareso saved a second half penalty from Kwabena Kwakwa and did enough to hold on to the clean sheet. Charlie Mehm had a great finish called back with an offside call for Middlesex as well. In the end, the tackle-and-go aggression from Brooks was enough to seal the points. For Middlesex, Andrew Parker was exceptional in the holding midfield role and Kwakwa did an excellent job of twisting by defenders and putting pressure on the Brooks back line. It was a highly competitive game that looked likely to end in a draw, but that breakthrough never came for the home side.Â
