Middlesex Girls' Soccer hosted ISL leaders Thayer Academy at Chapel Field on a glorious sunny afternoon splashing down on Parents' Weekend.
Middlesex were the aggressors from the opening whistle, not allowing Thayer much time and space with their defensive pressure and moving the ball around confidently on offense. Although there were chances to be had for both teams, including a 6-yard sitter that Middlesex put over the bar, the game remained level at 0 as the halftime whistle blew.
Thayer came out much stronger in the second half, as anticipated, and put the Zebras back on their heels a bit. Middlesex stood tall amidst the adversity, and it seemed that the game could go either way. Thayer eventually broke through on a loose ball deep in the box to go up by one halfway through the second half. Middlesex continued to battle and create some opportunity, but Thayer came back and scored two more quick goals in the next ten minutes to put the game out of reach. Middlesex played hard to the final whistle, a trait that has held true throughout the season.
Middlesex gets a week away from ISL action, as they first play host to Phillips Exeter on Wednesday at Chapel Field.
