Girls’ Soccer Break Through for Win Against Dana Hall, 3-1

10/17/2019 11:22:00 AM

Middlesex Girls' Soccer returned from Fall Long Weekend to host out-of-league foe Dana Hall on Chapel Field Wednesday.

Middlesex established early territorial advantage, playing solid possession, and creating good crossing opportunities, but the forwards were unable to push the ball over the goal line. Dana Hall created some good counter attacks, and just when it seemed that both teams would go into the half scoreless, Ella Matteucci '22 struck a loose ball from the top of the box that sailed into the net to give Middlesex the lead just before the halftime whistle.

Middlesex continued to press Dana Hall all over the field, but it was Dana Hall who found the net next, scoring the equalizer in the early stages of the second half. Not to be outdone, Middlesex continued to push the pace, and it was Matteucci who scored again, this time on a nice feed from teammate Taryn Gillis '22. Gillis closed out the scoring late in the game with an excellent attacking run and finish, pushing the final tally to 3-1.

Middlesex return to ISL competition as they travel to Nobles for a 2:00 kick-off on Saturday.
