In the first half, the Zebras came out rusty from a long break. In a daze, the game went by, and it looked as though we were playing defense in quick sand as Brooks lit us up from the outside. We went into the half down by 13.
A different team emerged in the second half as they clawed their way back through an impressive defensive effort. Hannah Barron energized the team with steals and blocked shots. Junior captain Carly Tilson was a force on the boards and led the team in offensive and defensive rebounds. Junior captain Hannah O'Gara played an outstanding second half with tough defense and had two clutch free throws to tie us with less than a minute to go.Â
Brooks responded with an impressive three-pointer, which looked to be the game winning shot. Middlesex ran a play to give Tilson a lay up, making it 37-38 with 9 seconds to go. With only three team fouls, the Zebras draw some quick fouls without spending too much of the clock. On the final foul, which took Brooks to the line, it was called a jump ball, and the Zebras got the ball underneath. Tilson in bounded the ball to Barron and a sea of Brooks defenders and Barron tipped it in. Fun night, and a big thank you to the crowd that came out to support our team!Â
