The Middlesex wrestlers picked up two hard-fought wins on the road, dropping 10-0 Brooks School by a 39-37 scoreline and defeating Thayer Academy 60-24.
Love Daley fell by a major decision at 138, but fired up her teammates with her tough wrestling. Sophomore Connor Cross pinned his opponent in under a minute at 145 and senior Diego Flores earned a 7-1 decision at 160. Senior co-captain Dante Gutbrod bumped up to 182 to secure another quick fall and junior Alek Kebabjian thrilled the crowd with an exciting third period fall over a tough opponent to build a lead that Middlesex would not relinquish. The team victory was ensured by freshman Nick DeBruin, who fought through a 1-0Â loss at 285 that prevented Brooks from securing the six points necessary to overtake the Zebras.
Falls by Connor Cross, Jose Garza, and Dante Gutbrod, and a pin by Diego Flores at 160 led the way for the Zebras against an undermanned but competitive Thayer squad who had almost picked upset win over Brooks.
