Notes:            Middlesex squared off against a feisty and competitive Tabor side at the second ISL Boys' Soccer Showcase at the Progin Park Fields in Lancaster, MA on Wednesday, 9/26 at 3:30p, on one of their many turf fields. The Seawolves' work ethic and resilience was commendable throughout the match, and particularly in the second half. The first half, however, was a strong one for Middlesex and the 4-0 halftime score would have dimmed the spirits of some teams, but not this Tabor side. Instead, Jake Peluso and Haohua Zhang stepped up their efforts, and they were rewarded with a free kick on the edge of the penalty area in the 57
th minute that was thundered home by sophomore Paul Collins. In the first half, Anyolo Makatiani opened the scoring after a few near misses for Middlesex, as he took a well-timed feed from Josh Quirk and buried it with his first touch. Josh Quirk then turned on the style, and scored a hat trick for Middlesex between minutes 23 and 41. His first came on a tight feed in the box from Ollie Cheever, the second was a penalty kick for a foul that Quirk drew, and the third came from an excellent squared feed from Jacob Charles. After Collins' mighty free kick that came 12 minutes into the second half, Anyolo Makatiani replied with a solo effort thanks to his own hard work to seal the match at 5-1. Both teams played hard and fair, and the match was a strong advertisement of the quality and sportsmanship in the ISL.Â
