The Zebras welcomed the mighty Griffins from Pomfret, Conn. on a beautiful fall afternoon for the 2018 season opener. Middlesex, armed with some new talent, took a little time to settle into a good rhythm, but as the first half progressed the Zebras started to carry the momentum, eventually netting its first goal of the season from a decisive finish by Basha Waxman '21. Middlesex went into the first half up by one. The second half proved to be more of a back and forth physical battle between the two teams. Pomfret eventually scored its first of two goals on a direct kick right outside the 18 and three minutes later Pomfret, again, capitalized on a defensive breakdown to go up 2-1. Middlesex dug in and countered with several close chances, but were unable to get the tying goal. The Zebras will regroup to prepare for another big game against Andover on Thursday September 20th.
