Notes:             In a rare Monday late afternoon contest, Middlesex hosted Pomfret School for a competitive and entertaining New England Class B match up.  Pomfret was fit and physical, and the match had a balanced rhythm of defending and attacking transitions for both sides.  Middlesex opened the scoring in the 21st minute, as an eight-pass move led to Andrew Parker's penetrating pass to Jacob Charles who struck a dangerous ball that found its way into the back for the 1-0 lead.  Kenyon Pelletier was called upon to make some crucial stops in the first half and the one goal margin held up until the halftime interval.  In the second half, Pomfret continued to press with high physical intensity, while Middlesex remained patient in their build up play.  A throw in 14 minutes into the second half led to a seven pass move that ended with Anyolo Makatiani playing Jacob Charles in for a close range play to goal that was miraculously deflected by Pomfret's Brandon Griffin just off the goal line.  However, the loose ball settled tantalizingly on the goal line for Ollie Cheever to pounce on and bury for the 2-0 lead.  Alfonso De Vito was called upon to make a few important catches that he handled cleanly, and Middlesex was able to maintain solid possession in the attacking half to see out the 2-0 victory.  The squad will now train until the ISL season opener at home against St. Mark's on Saturday.  With three wins from three, along with three clean sheets for the team, there is reason for optimism heading into the grueling slate of ISL matches ahead.
