Senior righthander Mike Doherty pitched a complete game one-hitter and Jared Arnold and Derek DeMarzo each contributed two hits and two RBI to lead Middlesex to a 5-2 win over BB&N on Monday.
BB&N struck early with two runs in the top of the first thanks to shaky Middlesex defense. Doherty shut down the Knights from there, striking out while not allowing a walk.
The Middlesex offense got one back in the bottom of the first thanks to a ringing double from Kevin Campbell and a two out RBI single from DeMarzo. The Zebras struck with two outs in the bottom of the second as well. With the bases loaded and two down, Arnold singled to score two and give Middlesex the lead. After a BB&N error scored another run, DeMarzo recorded his second RBI single of the day to make it 5-2.
Middlesex returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Brooks for a 3:30 game.
