Middlesex played its best 32 minutes of basketball of the season against a tough Dexter Southfield. This game was a dog fight until the end, with both teams battling for each and every possession. Middlesex got an early lead after Sophie '18 got hot from the field; however, Dexter Southfield took the lead back and opened it up to as many as 6 points. Middlesex kept their composure and had some several defensive stops. Sophie '21 scored 9 points in the second half to give Middlesex a much needed offensive boost. In the final two minutes of the game, we were tied. It was going to come down to a game of possessions. On an inbound play with under a minute to go, Avery '18 hit a big three from the corner to give Middlesex the lead. Though her shot was certainly one of the most memorable moments of the game, she was also a beast on the boards, picking up almost all of our defensive rebounds in the second half against a determined Dexter Southfield team. This was a team win and a great high school game of basketball, and there were notable contributions from every member of our team! We play Thayer on Tuesday at home for a make up game.
