Middlesex was on the road for the team's season opener against Governor's. After two scrimmages the previous week against LCA and Cushing Academy, the Zebras felt prepared heading into this matchup. With only four returning players, it was a good test for the young squad.Â
This was a great game that swung 8-10 points in both directions. In the first half, Gov's took an early lead due to some careless turnovers. Then Sophia '21 got hot from the three point line, and Middlesex led by as many as eight points. Gov's took back the lead by 10, but after a timeout, this squad was able to close that gap and end the half with a one point lead.Â
In the second half, Middlesex was unable to finish shots close to the rim and execute the offense, and while the game remained close, it slipped away with outstanding free throw shooting from the Governor's team (19/23). While the team was frustrated by the lost, they are eager and more prepared to take on BBN at home on Friday!
