Boys’ Varsity Hockey Starts Strong Taking Home Opener 7-1 Over Worcester Academy

11/30/2018 10:03:00 AM

The Boys' Varsity Hockey team put together a comprehensive three period effort in their opening game, defeating Worcester Academy by a score of 7 to 1.  In front of an exuberant crowd, the Zebras wasted no time jumping ahead.  Only 7 minutes into the first, Henry Cohen '22 fired a powerful wrist shot in to the back of the Hilltoppers net on his first shift and first shot as a varsity hockey player. Moments later, Kyle Heath '21 notched his first of the season from a great pass from behind the net by Alex Rivet '19 with an assist going to Rex Mabbs '22.  In the second, the Zebras killed off some early penalties, before Kevin Campbell registered his first off the year, off of a great pass from Heath and an assist going to Jared Arnold '19 late in the period.  In the third period, the team took resounding control of the game, scoring four goals in the final frame off the sticks of Cedric Paradis '20, Harry Friedman '20, and two from Arnold who finished with three points on the day.  Captain, Joe Stanizzi '19 was rock solid in net, stopping 33 of 34 Hilltopper shots, including a penalty shot in the second frame.  The team returns to action on Friday evening as they travel to Governors Academy for a 5:30 PM face-off.
