Notes:             Middlesex traveled to Brooks for a physical match that ended in a 2-2 draw.  Brooks was dangerous with the long-ball counter-attack to their leading scorer, Duncan Sutherland.  Sutherland opened the scoring just 90 seconds into the match with a thundering strike into the side net from the top of the box.  Middlesex created a handful of golden chances in the first 30 minutes as well, and Anyolo Makatiani rolled a ball past the keeper and just inches wide of the back post.  Jacob Charles opened the scoring for Middlesex when he was played through the Brooks defense with a penetrating pass from Haydn Herrema.  Charles took the ball on and calmly chipped the keeper from 18 yards out for a fantastic finish to knot the score at 1-1.  Brooks answered just four minutes later, as play got scrappy but was not stopped until Middlesex had been called for a foul in their penalty area.  Sutherland stepped up and converted the awarded spot kick for a 2-1 lead going into halftime.  A sprawling Kenyon Pelletier also robbed Sutherland at the crossbar of a spectacular 25-yard effort in the first half.
In the second half, there was a back and forth frenetic pace of play, as Middlesex mounted pressure and Brooks played it long out of the back to their dangerous striker.   Alfonso De Vito was outstanding in preserving the Middlesex goal in the second half, and the chance to tie came through a scrum in front of the Brooks net from a set piece service.  Justin Krayer was able to get hold of the loose ball and help it on the to goal line, where Josh Quirk bundled it over the line for the 2-2 draw.  Kwabena Kwakwa had a great chance to win the match on a second half breakaway, but his final touch brought the ball just wide of the left post.  In the end, a draw was a fair result, as Brooks won the battle of effort and frustrated the Middlesex attack with aggressive defending and direct play to their counterattack.  Middlesex showed their quality at times, as well as their character in battling back from their first two deficits of the season to draw level in the end.  Next up is a visit from Governor's Academy on Wednesday, 10/10 at 3:00pm.
