After a positive performance against Nobles over Parents' Weekend, the girls' soccer team was eager to get back to Chapel Field for their matchup Wednesday against Rivers on cloudy, breezy late October afternoon.
Â
Unfortunately for the lady Zebras, Rivers provided stiff resistance to their offensive initiatives, and then played a lot of long balls over the top of the Middlesex defense. Eventually this style of play paid off for Rivers, as they broke free behind our back line, kept the ball in play along the end line, and deposited a loose ball into our net to score the game's opening goal. Middlesex worked hard to keep up the tempo, but the clash of playing styles proved too much for Middlesex to handle, as they let in two more before the break, in addition to two in the second half. The final score: Rivers 5, Middlesex 0.
Â
Middlesex hopes to rebound and get back to their more positive ways when they travel to South Braintree to take on Thayer Academy Saturday. Please note the updated kick-off time of 1:45.
