The team responded with determination and fortitude from its first loss last week with two victories on January 6th. The Zebras built a lead that they would not relinquish against Lawrence Academy, finalizing the score at Middlesex 66 Lawrence 12. Peter Daichman developed a clear dominant strategy by pinning his opponent in the first period, followed by pins from senior captain Michael Acevedo and junior Diego Flores. The next two matches were won by Dante Gutbrod and Ted Pyne, who both delivered excellent performances. Finally, Alek Kebabjian was in full control for his 2nd period pin.
The final match against Tabor ended with a score of Middlesex 46, Tabor 24. The wrestler of the day honors went to newcomer Andrew Harris, who turned around a 6-1 deficit to pin the captain of the Tabor wrestling team. In addition, Alene Fernandes, Peter Daichman, and Michael Acevedo won by pins for the light weights.
The middle of the line-up showed strength from pins by Diego Flores, Dante Gutbrod and Ted Pyne. Their effort secured the victory for the Middlesex team eager for the victory sweep on the day. The final victory was achieved by Alek Kebabjian who lured his opponent and secured a great takedown and pin. Great day for the Zebras bringing the team record to 6-1 on the young season.
