Boys' Varsity XC takes two out of three

9/25/2017 5:46:00 PM

The Middlesex varsity boys cross-country team picked up their first two wins of the season at Rock Meadow in Belmont on Saturday, downing Nobles 26-31 and St. Sebastian's 24-31 while falling to a strong Belmont Hill team.

In unseasonably hot conditions, sophomore Justin O'Toole once again led the way for the Zebras, cruising to the finish in 18:35 in fourth place overall. Freshman Andrew Harris was eighth overall in 19:16 with senior co-captain Luke Collins and junior Jack Audett close behind in 19:53 and 20:04 repectively. Senior Kiran Tremblay, freshman Mac Hadden and sophomore Jack Starobin rounded out the top seven for the Zebras.

In a dramatic return from injury, junior Andrew Danoff raced to the line in 20:52 to claim third place overall in the junior varsity race. Freshmen Gavin Cassidy and Cannon Caspar finished in 21:53 and 22:29 respectively, while junior Sam Ferrone and freshman David Latham also scored points for Middlesex. Freshmen Sean McLaughlin and Zan Danoff ran strong races to finish sixth and seventh in the junior varsity pack, helping the Zebras pick up a 23-36 win over St. Sebastian's.

Middlesex returns to action Friday, September 29, traveling to Milton Academy for what promises to be a closely-contested dual between ISL rivals.
