The Girls' Varsity Tennis team continued its winning streak against fellow ISL school Brooks Wednesday, defeating the Bishops 10 - 5. With sunny skies above, temperatures reached the low 90s, as both sides worked to stay hydrated and focused in the heat.
Led by Sophia Corning '17 at #1, the Zebras captured 9 out of 15 singles points and clinched the overall match before moving into doubles. Helen Lasry '18 played a relatively conservative game in the heat at #2, but kept her challenger on the move to sweep sets. Captain Caroline Reynolds '17 lost the first nailbiter set 5 - 7, but returned in the second determined to win. She decisively defeated her opponent 6 - 2. Sophomore Maud McCole pushed through struggles with the heat but was able to secure the first point 7 - 5; she found her groove in the second set, trouncing her rival 6 - 2. Senior Laura Kaye played a savvy match at #5, sweeping both sets 6 - 4, 6 - 0. With nearly a season's worth of experience playing her position in the ISL, junior Madeline Graham confidently triumphed in both sets 6 -1, 6 -2.
All doubles matches were competitive. Graham and partner Miranda Fiore '19 beat their opponents at #2 with strategic placement and good consistency, bagging the final point for the Zebras.
The team looks forward to facing Tabor on Saturday.
