MX 59 Berwick 51
In the ever dangerous opening game out of exams on Friday afternoon, Tyler Gelormini immediately responded with 15 points in the opening 7 minutes of the game. MX jumped out to 24 -12 lead but foul trouble and turnovers while working out the week off rust led to a 13-2 Berwick run before the half. Berwick led by 34-32 at the half and jumped out to a 6 point lead at 39-33 before the Zebras defense went into lockdown mode for the remainder of the game. With the game tied at 45, a Gelormini 3 at the 6:30 mark gave MX the lead back for good 48-47 and finished at 59-51 as the defense led by Julian Howell's 7 steals held Berwick to 17 second half points and only 4 in the last 6:35. MX was led by Gelormini's 26 points and 5 three point baskets. Julian Howell responded out of the gate with 7 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and the 7 steals. Kevin McGrath and Matt Pelletier complimented the scoring with 7 each.
MX 71 Brewster 52
In game two of the Huckins-Rouse Tournament vs. the Brewster Varsity team, MX again found itself down by 2 at the half, 29-27, despite another strong first half by Tyler Gelormini (10 points and 5 rebounds). MX would begin the second half on a 12-5 run and maintain a single digit lead until about the 5 minute mark. With 2:48 remaining the Zebras led 66-48. The team was led again in scoring by Gelormini's 23 points. Gelormini also contributed 10 rebounds. Julian Howell had 13 pints and 5 assists. Mike Doherty had 9 points and 12 rebounds. Derek Demarzo had 7 points and 5 rebounds.
MX 59 Portsmouth Abbey 47
The third game of the Huckins-Rouse saw MX respond from an early 9-3 deficit and enter the half with a 23-22 lead by Eamon O'Malley's 8 points off the bench. The game was tied at 37 with 8:18 when MX went on 20-4 run. Gelormini went for his third 20 point game in a row adding 24 and 8 rebounds. Mike Doherty had 15 points and 7 rebounds and 3 assists.
MX 61 Hopkins 48
MX fell behind early again the fourth and final game of the Huckins-Rouse Tournament. MX trailed 18-11 before a 9-0 run led by Julian Howell got MX the lead. A 34-27 halftime lead was maintained throughout most of the second half. During a key stretch Kai Morris had steals on three consecutive Hopkins possessions and on the fourth blocked a shot. The lead got to 50-39 with 5:22 to go and the MX defense again held strong in the second half. Gelormini led MX in scoring again with 18(91 for the tournament), Mike Doherty had a monster game with 16 points and 11 rebounds(36 for the tournament), Julian Howell had 16 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals to add to his 19 for the tournament. Derek Demarzo contributed 9 rebounds.
