The Middlesex Boys' Varsity Hockey team dropped a hard-fought season opening game played at the recently opened Worcester Ice Center. The game featured some early up-and-down action with Middlesex just missing on a couple of great scoring chances. Worcester Academy gained a two goal lead early in the second period. Middlesex got on the board when Anthony Mandravellos activated on the left side and fired a shot home for the first goal of the season. However, Worcester Academy responded quickly with the strike from just in front of the goal to increase the lead to 3-2. Middlesex had a furious assault in the third period, but was unable to get the equalizer. Middlesex outshot their opponent 34-32 in the contest.
