Rivers welcomed Middlesex to their beautiful new turf complex for an incredibly intense and action-packed Wednesday ISL contest that ended up as a hard fought 1-0 victory for Middlesex. The Rivers keeper, Michael Webber, was outstanding in the first half, as he parried a dipping volley from Haydn Herrema just over the bar, got a fingertip to a breakaway effort from Josh Quirk, and made a save on the line from Jacob Charles in the first half.
The only goal of the game came from a great transition sequence cued by Josh Quirk, as he gathered a ball around midfield and shifted past two onrushing defenders to slot a streaking Jacob Charles in alone on Webber. Charles picked his head up and made no mistake with the chance in the 18
th minute. The second half was a different story, as Rivers repeatedly created chances that got to the byline for a pullback cross or served one of countless corner kicks that were all dealt with effectively by the Middlesex defenders. Keepers Kenyon Pelletier and Alfonso De Vito split the clean sheet for Middlesex, and Jack Lousararian and Justin Krayer stood out defensively. Sherman, Webber, and Cadwalader were the stand out performers for a resilient Rivers in a thrilling match that went down to the last kick.
