Belmont Hill and Middlesex squared off in a battle of two organized and dangerous teams, with no goals to show in the end. The first half was an even contest as each side negated the other's threats. In the second half, Middlesex gained more sustained possession and created a handful of chances. The best chance for Belmont Hill came when Mateen Nickpour-Reyes found some space on the left side of the net and unleashed a curling shot from 25 yards that was destined for the top corner of the net before Alfonso De Vito got a fingertip to push it on to the crossbar. As the clock ticked down the chances grew, as Belmont Hill had two dangerous set pieces struck in to the wall, and Nick Buonanno had two great chances to win it for Middlesex in the closing stages. The defensive line of Justin Krayer, Zack Goorno, and Justin D'Alessandro, along with the two keepers, Kenyon Pelletier and Alfonso De Vito, deserve a great deal of credit for Middlesex's current run of form. The team has conceded just one goal in the last seven matches, and has recorded five straight shutouts. Despite the lack of goals, this was a fair result for a fiercely competitive match, as Belmont Hill came in to the game at the top of the ISL table to date. Next up is a trip to the turf at St. Sebastian's on Saturday.
