1/16/2017 1:41:00 PM

The Middlesex Wrestling team won two hard-fought matches on Saturday, January 14 over Governor's Academy and BB&N, moving to 5-0 in the league. Taking on BB&N in the first match, senior Marcus Coward showed great leadership in his pin of the Governor's opponent after a long injury delay. It was great to see the excellent execution of strong moves and agile balance that Marcus delivered coming off the injury time-out. Junior captain Ted Pyne, junior Ameye Shere, sophmore Peter Daichman, and freshman Cal Fries all contributed pins to give the Middlesex Team a 48 to 33 victory. Adding forfeits were Naomi Hunt, Sam Ferrone, and Emily Yu to boost the team victory.
The second match versus Governor's resulted in the 5th win of the season in the ISL, giving the team a great start to the in-league dual standings.  First period pins by Dante Gutbrod and Ted Pyne, and Naomi Hunt were among the highlights. Coward added his second period pin at the 3:00 minute mark to complete his two win day. Forfeits were added by Shere, Fries and Ferrone to round out the scoring with Middlesex winning by a score of 42 to 35.  Diego Flores managed two exhibition victories keep his timing and technique at full strength. Finally, in the last exhibition matches of the day, Jack Canniff pinned his opponent in a show of great strength. It was a great job by the team to finish the day with two victories.
