After the long holiday, the Middlesex wrestlers were eager to get out on the mat, and what a performance they put together, defeating ISL rival Lawrence Academy 51-18. The team brought great energy and a focused concentration which were the forces that helped ensue the victory.
Winning by first period pins, were junior captain Ted Pyne, and sophomores Peter Daichman and Dante Gutbrod. Several matches were exciting battles of strength and courage with the Middlesex wrestlers winning a few battles with late period pins. Michael Acevado won both his regular match with a strong technical pin and his exhibition match with a late third period manuever.
Marcus Coward finalized his match at 12-5 after a relentless neutral position attack. Several exhibitions were wrestled by Cal Fries, Derek DeLaine, Sean Tanabe, and Diego Flores for excellent mat experience. Extra acknowledgement goes to Ameya Shere, who moved up a weight class to gain match experience.
It was a great start to the New Year! Next up, the Zebras face BBN and Governors at Governor's historic school grounds on Saturday at 2:00PM.
