On Saturday, February 6, Girls' Varsity Squash bested visiting Tabor 6-1 in a hard-fought match. At #5 freshman Caroline Yonce won 3-0 in three close games with Caroline's deep shots ultimately making the difference. Junior Pennie Gould at #6 and freshman Syona Shah at #7 both attacked the back corners aggressively to win their matches 3-0. At #4 freshman Mira Handa fought a tough opponent to one game all, and then used aggressive serving and hard low shots to win the last two games decisively. Evenly matched with her opponent, senior Mari Herrema used her excellent court coverage and shot placement to triumph in a match with long, intricate rallies. At #1 junior Olivia Gish, coming back from an injury, used a variety of deep and short shots to control the T, and won her first match back in five arduous games. The team is playing well as it gets ready for Nationals next weekend.
