Dampened intermittently by showers but never dispirited, the Middlesex boys cross-country team raced to the finish of the regular season on a hilly course at Brooks School in North Andover, defeating the hosts and Thayer Academy while falling to a strong Roxbury Latin squad.
Senior co-captain Ryan Ewing improved on his time from the previous week, crossing the line in 17:44 and in third place overall. Sophomore Connor Page and junior Luke Collins followed closely in 18:09 and 18:10 respectively. Terrific races from sophomore Jack Audett (18:36) and freshman Colin Craig (18:45) put the Zebras in a position to pick up two more wins over ISL opponents.
Senior Chad Arle was the frontrunner for the Zebras on the junior varsity side, coming to the line in 19:44. Junior Kiran Tremblay, senior Dan Kramer, and senior Alex Scott also beat the frontrunners from Brooks and Thayer, enabling two clear victories for the JV boys. Junior Zeke Golnik rounded out the scoring in the fifth position.
Next up for the Middlesex harriers is the ISL Championship, held this Friday at Groton School.
