Boys' Cross Country Races Past Rivers

10/6/2016 11:07:00 AM

Running conditions were ideal on the home course as the Middlesex boys welcomed Rivers School to Concord for a midweek dual meet. The Zebras' superior depth won the day and the varsity prevailed by a 26-33 scoreline to go to 5-2 on the season.

Sophomore Connor Page raced to the finish in 18:20 as the first runner in for Middlesex, with junior Luke Collins following in 18:29. Senior co-captain Ryan Ewing, sophomore Jack Audett and senior co-captain Jack Pelletier accounted for the rest of the scoring, as freshman Colin Craig and junior Ted Pyne finished well ahead of the fourth Rivers runner to increase the margin of victory.

Senior Chad Arle won the junior varsity race, sprinting to the line in 20:00. Sophomore Ace Wainaina, junior Zeke Golnik, senior Dan Kramer and freshman Jack Starobin also scored points as a JV team depleted by injuries held off Rivers by 27-30 score.

Middlesex will travel to Southborough this Saturday for a showdown against ISL rivals St. Mark's and Nobles, as well as St. Paul's.
