Boys' Varsity Soccer Battles Lawrence to 0-0 Stalemate

10/6/2016 9:45:00 AM

Middlesex hosted Lawrence for a very competitive and entertaining mid-week clash, with the 0-0 result deemed a fair one.  Both backlines held strong and limited chances earned by each team, as opposing captains James Sanderson and Augie Martini waged a mighty battle in the middle of the field for both Middlesex and Lawrence respectively.  Isaac Mukala stood out for Lawrence defensively, while Liam Sloan created chances for Middlesex and Gavin Garrity-Rokous and Jacob Charles defended with great composure against the barrage of balls played their way in the air.  In the latter stages of the match, Middlesex applied sustained pressure on the Lawrence goal while Lawrence looked to counterattack to their lone forward on the break.  The final whistle ended what was an intense and evenly played match. The result brings Middlesex's record to 3-1-2, as the team is continually improving its defensive concepts and collective pressure, which has resulted in only one goal allowed in the last four matches.
