Middlesex traveled to North Andover to play the undefeated Brooks boys under the lights, and came away with a road loss and a harsh score line. Brooks scored a bizarre goal in the 19th minute when a 50-yard clearance by a Brooks defender sailed high in the air and took a bounce to the right of the goal on the turf that redirected it back towards the net and over the Middlesex keeper's head. It was the first ball-considered a shot since it eventually trickled into the net- that made its way towards the net for Brooks after Middlesex had forced two saves from the Brooks keeper, hit a crossbar, and earned three corner kicks. The goal did not diminish the effort for Middlesex, but Brooks' forward Alex Chaban doubled the lead in the 30th minute with a 20-yard shot that settled in by the near post after bouncing twice through a crowd of defenders. The final goal came from a 40-yard long ball that Duncan Sutherland ran on to and was allowed the space to shoot by his marker for a fine finish in the 63rd minute. Liam Sloan was excellent in the Middlesex midfield, completing 86% of his passes, and winning 11 tackles. James Sanderson applied consistent pressure on the Brooks defense, and Gavin Garrity-Rokous led the Middlesex defense with a great performance. Despite the score line, the total shots on net were 6 for Brooks and 5 for Middlesex, with a crossbar struck as well. Middlesex had 8 corner kicks to Brooks' 6, and forced Brooks into fouling 24 times as opposed to 7 for the Zebras. It was a very entertaining match with a spirited home crowd on a Saturday night. The hosts were very gracious in every aspect except for the final score.
