In a much-anticipated clash of top four teams from last year's ISL championship race, a young Middlesex varsity squad came up short in the dual meet scoring, but posted some promising individual results as the regular season passed its midpoint.
Senior co-captain Ryan Ewing was the first Middlesex harrier to cross the line, racing to the finish in a personal record17:27. Junior Luke Collins and sophomore Jack Audett finished in 18:10 and 18:16 respectively. Sophomore Connor Page and senior co-captain Jack Pelletier rounded out the top five for the Zebras.
In the junior varsity race, Middlesex picked up wins over St. Paul's and Nobles while falling to host St. Mark's. Senior Chad Arle led the way in a personal best 19:38, followed by junior Kiran Tremblay in 19:52. Senior Dan Kramer also posted a huge improvement over his midweek finishing time, sprinting to the line in 20:25. Sophomore Ace Wainaina and junior Zeke Golnik accounted for the rest of the scoring for Middlesex.
Up next for the Zebras is a trip to Groton School for what is sure to be a closely-fought contest between historical rivals.
