On Wednesday, January 13, Girls' Varsity Squash played a hard match against St. Mark's. Middlesex won positions #5 through #7. At #5, junior Pennie Gould won her match 3-1; #6 freshman Caroline Yonce fought hard to win her match 3-1; #7 Syona Shah easily won her match 3-0, winning a mentally tough third game 20-18. However, at the top of the ladder, the Zebras had a more difficult time. Junior captain Olivia Gish lost at #1 0-3, #2 senior Hadley Parker lost 0-3, and #4 freshman Mira Handa lost 1-3. The match came down to #3 senior captain Mari Herrema in a nail-biter as she and her opponent were equally matched. Eventually, Herrama lost the fifth game 11-7. Overall, the team fought tooth and nail but lost 3-4.
