As parents and well-wishers gathered along the course, the Middlesex boys cross-country team honored its outstanding senior class in their final home race with a complete performance, winning convincing victories over ISL rivals Roxbury Latin, St. Sebastian's and BB&N.
Seniors Gavin Fujimori and Will Fletcher easily claimed the top two spots, coming to the line in 17:36 -- a fitting finish for two exceptional athletes and leaders. Rock Hoffman '16 nearly caught the third Roxbury Latin finisher in the final straightaway, recording a personal best time of 18:07. He was followed by Connor Page '19 in 18:15 and Ryan Ewing '17 in 18:19 (another personal best). Luke Collins '18 and Jack Yoon '16 rounded out the top seven for Middlesex, surpassing the fourth through seventh runners from Roxbury Latin to secure a 24-35 victory, as well as 16-47 wins over St. Sebastian's and BB&N.
The junior varsity dropped a close result to Roxbury Latin for their second defeat of the season but earned a comprehensive victory over BB&N. Ted Pyne '18 once again led the way, cruising to the finish in 19:06 as the individual winner, with Jack Pelletier '17 and Eric Gourdon '16 close behind at 19:23 and 19:44 respectively. Kiran Tremblay '18, Dan Kramer '17, Chad Arle '17 and Tim Ren '18 rounded out the top seven for Middlesex.
The team will now turn its attention to the ISL championship race on Friday, November 6 at St. Mark's School.
