Boys' Cross Country Competes at St. Mark's

10/5/2015 11:56:00 AM

As a steady rain descended on Southborough, the Middlesex boys' cross-country team raced their way to victories over Milton Academy and St. George's School while dropping a close result to perennial rival St. Mark's. Senior co-captain Viraj Deokar once again led the way, holding off a strong challenge from the St. Mark's frontrunner and powering through the blustery and wet conditions to set a new course record in 15:41. Senior co-captain Gavin Fujimori finished in 17:19, with fellow senior Will Fletcher close behind at 17:25. Connor Page '18 raced to finish in 17:45, outpacing his opposite number from Milton Academy by four seconds and thus securing 27-28 victory for the Zebras over the Mustangs. Rock Hoffman '16 achieved a PR (18:32) in his first varsity race, and Ryan Ewing '17 and Jack Yoon '16 both improved on their times from the previous week.

The junior varsity boys swept the day, tallying three impressive victories while lacking their full complement of runners. Luke Collins '18 finished second overall among the JV in 19:10, outracing varsity runners from Milton and St. George's. Jack Pelletier '17 and Ted Pyne '18 finished in 19:42 and 19:43 respectively, while Eric Gourdon '16 and Chad Arle '17 also scored points. Kiran Tremblay '18 and Alex Scott '17 bested top-five runners from Milton and outpaced the fastest JV competitor from St. George's.

The Middlesex harriers return to action on Saturday, October 10, traveling to Braintree for a dual meet against Thayer Academy.
