Fuchs '17 Leads Zebras over Milton, 1-0

10/5/2015 1:14:00 PM

Once again Middlesex found itself in stormy conditions with high winds, cold temperatures and threatening rain. The Zebras are resilient and took to the field with confidence and determination. Milton proved itself to be a well-organized, disciplined opponent and Middlesex worked hard to play quickly around Milton's high pressure.

Both teams shared portions of possession and looked to stretch the field with a poised and disciplined attack. The score remained even at 0-0 despite an attempt by Middlesex right before the half when Lucie Gildehaus '18 nearly pushed the ball beyond the Milton keeper, hitting the post. Middlesex regrouped at halftime and continued to press looking for space and holes in Milton's tough backline. With the clock winding down in the game, Middlesex built its attack slowly but deliberately with the entire team working the ball through the final third. Finally, Corina Kotidis '18 found Isabelle Fuchs'17 feet just outside the 18 and Isabelle ripped a laser into the top right corner of the goal to put the Zebras up by 1. Middlesex hunkered down and bolstered its defensive line to secure this lead. When the final whistle blew Middlesex found itself on top securing its second ISL win for the week.

Middlesex will get back to work on Monday to prepare for another challenging opponent on Wednesday, October 7th at Lawrence Academy.
