Even though the team was not running at full strength due to some injuries and illnesses over the past week, Middlesex ran well against St. Paul's on their beautiful and storied course. The team was led by senior captain Sonia Tremblay, who again ran a smart, fast, and tactical race to finish 3rd overall in a great time, running the fastest time on the St. Paul's course by a Middlesex runner since Emily Stark '12. Junior Julia McClellan emerged as a powerful pack leader, running her best time and racing well for sixth overall. The team score was secured by seniors Raphaele Sevrain and Emily Arnold and sophomore Emily Li, all of whom ran season best times with strength and focus. Sophomore Alice Crow and freshman Wani Pandey, in her first varsity finish of her career, also finished in the top 7.
The JV race-within-a-race was a story of improvement and positivity, with the effort led by junior Sophia Corning, senior Juliette Bendheim, and freshman Tess Kelley. Also contributing to the JV team score were senior Katie Lovell, sophomore Imani Marcelo, junior Gabriella Resnick, and senior Cally Queally. Many of these runners ran a PR, and all raced with competitiveness and determination. The trio of Miranda Fiore, Sophie Stewart, and Sananda Chintamani worked particularly well together throughout the race, pushing each other to improved times. The team looks forward to facing BB&N in front of the Parents' Weekend crowd at home next weekend.
