The Zebras finished the season with a decisive 16-6 win over the visiting St. George's Dragons.
Coming off a big win over Governors earlier in the week, the Middlesex squad began the game in similar fashion with senior captain Rowena Schenck feeding her fellow captain Dakota Foster for the first tally of the day. Lucky for the Lord Jeff's, both Dakota and Rowena will continue play-making on the lacrosse field together at Amherst College next year. Although the Dragons stayed in striking distance at the 17 minute mark of the first half (3-2), they struggled to find rhythm on the attacking end and the Dragon defensive unit couldn't handle the well-balanced and powerful Zebra attack. The team rallied for six more goals in the half including a buzzer beater by Foster with one second remaining on the clock.
The Zebras continued to dominate the second half by scoring seven goals to the visitors' two.
The all-star senior defensive unit of Maddie Winslow, Cici Frattasio, Talya Kramer, Beeko Tabeek (plus freshman Shannon Wing) combined for several caused turnovers and ground balls while the midfielders, Juliana Fiore, Foster, Schenck and Hannah Saghir tallied stats at both ends of the field. Seniors Ali Stephens, Brooke Gary, and Talya Kramer also combined for six goals on the day and C Millz earned seven assists.
The 10 seniors ended their Middlesex athletic careers in style today and we are extremely grateful for the mark they have made on the program over the last four years.
