Zebras Return to Winning Ways

5/22/2014 9:10:00 AM

The Zebras came out fighting from the first whistle as they took on Governors, a team ranked just ahead of Middlesex in the ISL standings.

The Zebra brigade, led by the 10 seniors found their rhythm in a disciplined-attacking system and a gritty-aggressive defensive unit.  Four Middlesex players found the back of the net as the Zebras took a 5-0 lead with 10:42 remaining in the half.  The Govs notched one goal a minute later, but the Zebras retaliated, firing four more goals past the goalie, including two by  Gary '14 in a 24 second clip.  Kota '14 rounded out the first half scoring with 33 seconds remaining, giving the driven Zebras a commanding 9-1 lead.

In the second half, Govs found a bit more success in the attacking end, notching five goals, but the composed Middlesex squad continued to make big plays at the attacking end and courageous knock-downs in the defense.  Every player stepped up today, demonstrating the true strength of a Middlesex athlete.  When Zebras face adversity, they come back ready to battle.  The four captains, Demoulas, Scheck, Foster, and Tabeek inspired the team to bring their best today and their teammates, with respect and honor, followed suit.

Middlesex will take on St. George's in their final game of the season on Friday, May 23rd.
