The Middlesex girls' tennis team struggled to find its rhythm against a talent Brooks squad, and had a difficult time building momentum as the match wore on.
It was a sunny day with temperatures in the mid – 60s when Brooks came to challenge Middlesex on its home court.
At #5 singles, freshman Caroline Reynolds won her first set 6 – 3 but struggled to adjust her game to maintain the lead through the second set. Senior captain Olivia Dewey was off to a sluggish start, losing her first match 2 – 6. However, she turned up the gas in the second set, playing some of her best tennis and shutting out her opponent 6 – 0.
The team was down 2 – 10 after the singles matches, and junior doubles team Katherine Khoury and Anna Seigel stepped up, played with good chemistry, and their risks paid off as they battled out the set to finish on top 8 – 6 and scoring the third point for Middlesex.
