5/12/2014 2:43:00 PM

The Middlesex girls' tennis team was defeated by BB&N's squad during their match in Cambridge, MA on Saturday. The match was played indoors at the BB&N campus.

Scoring for Middlesex was freshman Caroline Reynolds who split sets with her opponent at #5 singles. Ninth grader Laura Kaye demonstrated remarkable grit and tenacity as she came back from being down 0 – 4 to win the tie-breaker 7-4. She refused to let up in the second set, winning 7 – 5. Also putting Middlesex on the board was senior doubles team Olivia Dewey (captain) and Charlotte Flint, winning their match 8 -1.

It is worth mentioning that at #1 singles, Olivia Dewey was up against the #11 ranked player in Massachusetts and #21 in New England. While she lost both of her sets, she improved her set scores from 1 – 6 to 3 – 6, giving her opponent a run for her money on each point.

In the same vein, Charlotte Flint at #2 singles played a commendable match against a powerhouse 9th grader ranked #10 in Massachusetts and #21 in New England.

The team is looking forward to two challenging matches this week against Brooks School on Wednesday and Tabor Academy on Saturday.
