Golf Team Edged by Thayer and BB&N

4/30/2014 10:35:00 AM

The Middlesex Golf team took on the strong programs of Thayer Academy and Buckingham, Brown, & Nichols on Monday. While the Middlesex team had lower morale due to the absence of Matt "KoKo" Kochakian, whose spark of wit and technical skill usually uplifts the team, the hodgepodge group of hackers and players were able to summon some competitive drive.

In particular,  spectators on the course had the unusual treat of watching the unmatched brilliance of Camden Blatchly 15' on Monday, who was able to fire away 3 birdies in his match. Camden very nearly clogged the holes on the golf course with his steady stream of incredible putts, which consistently astounded his opponents and loyal fans. In fact, the roars of the crowd when Camden's third birdie dropped into the cup could be heard all around the esteemed Concord Country Club. Electra Washburn and Patrick Milne also had strong showings on the golf course as they both halved against BB&N and beat Thayer. Unfortunately, David McGrath lost his battle to his opponents to lose in two close matches. The other McGrath brother, James, also had a tough losses against BB&N and Thayer.

Many of the players on the team were happy with their 3 to 4 almost-win against Thayer and their 1.5 to 5.5 almost kind-of close match against BB&N.

In the end, Dr. E was extraordinarily content with the incredible sportsmanship of David McGrath and the rest of the team, and Middlesex will continue their pursuit of the sportsmanship award in their matches throughout this week.
