St. Mark's pounded out 15 hits on the day and plated 8 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to break open a close game and cruise to a 12-2 win over Middlesex. The loss drops the Zebras record to 2-3-1.
Middlesex put multiple runners on base in each of the first three innings but could not score. St. Mark's scored two runs each in the second and third innings to take a 4-0 lead.
An RBI double by Drew Coash cut the lead to 4-1 in the fourth and Joe Frye followed with a single but Coash was cut down at the plate on a strong throw by the St. Mark's center fielder.
Another Middlesex rally in the top of the 6th made the score 4-2 and had the tying runs in scoring position with two outs but a grounder to short ended the threat.
St. Mark's broke the game open with seven hits in their half of the 6th, putting the game out of reach.
Middlesex will battle St. Sebastian's on Tuesday at 4:15 pm.
