Dual Loss for Middlesex Golf Team

4/25/2014 10:27:00 AM

Faced with fierce competition from the elite athletes of fellow members of the New England Independent Schools League, the Middlesex golf team was out-golfed by Milton and Lawrence Academy on Wednesday at the esteemed Concord Country Club.

Indeed, in the midst of a 7-0 loss to Milton and a 6-1 loss to Lawrence Academy, there only remained one beacon of hope for the team of dedicated athletes: Camden Blatchly 15',  who played like the true third-spot superstar that he is. Camden deftly struck his Titleist Pro-V1 X time and time again to the many challenging pin positions carefully crafted by the greensmen of the club. However, while Camden earned the praise of his coach, teammates, and all those attending his astounding win on Wednesday, several of his other teammates also had praiseworthy efforts. For example, even though Captain Amy Ding 15's game was more up and down than the Stock Market in 2008, she still managed to bring her matches down to the wire, losing 2 and 1 and 1 down.

The Middlesex Golf team was partially able to excuse their loss on the course due to the ominously inclement weather plaguing the hills and dales of the fine institution at which the athletes attended their competition. Despite early predictions that the match would be canceled due to torrential downpours, it went on and the team persevered through thick and thin playing with winds stronger than Middlesex has ever seen, winds strong enough to dislodge a few medium-sized tree branches.

All in all, it was a rough day on the course that Middlesex will hope to bounce back from.
