Zebras Rally Past Mustangs 12-5

4/17/2014 8:56:00 AM

Middlesex welcomed the Milton Mustangs to their home turf today on a classic New England spring day, consisting of snow, sun, and wind.

The Zebras took possession almost immediately, but the Milton goalie stymied the Middlesex attacking unit with several saves in the opening minutes.  Middlesex eventually got on the board in the fourth minute when Em '16 hit CMilz '15.  The defensive unit shut down all Milton scoring attempts for the first 19 minutes of play and four different players notched five goals in the first half to take a 5-1 lead.

Although Milton earned the first tally of the second half, the Zebras scored five unanswered goals to take a 10-2 lead with 9:46 remaining.  The Mustangs applied pressure as the time dwindled, scoring three goals, but freshman Rogers notched the final tally for a decisive 12-5 win.

Six different players scored the final six goals including a powerful shot from senior Big Al.  Underclassmen Shwing and Lil Hendy stepped into the veteran defensive unit in the second half, Cic picked up an interception, and Beeko had eight saves on the day for the win.  MadWin picked up three contested ground balls and made several great slides to keep the Mustang attack in check.

Middlesex looks forward to taking on ISL rival Thayer on Saturday, April 19.
