Senior captain Aaron Swenson dropped another 25 points on Thursday evening in Braintree, MA, leading the visiting Zebras to a 77-55 win against Thayer Academy.
Middlesex jumped out to a 12-5 lead before Thayer would run off with five straight points. However, that would be the closest the Tigers would get all night as Middlesex led 31-23 at the half before cruising to victory in the second.
The rest of the Middlesex scoring attack was pretty balanced with sophomore center Jack Lyne getting a career-high 12 points. Junior Hamza Usman added 10 and senior co-captain Jon Siu had nine. Ben Cherington had five with Pete Beatty and Austin Perry contributing four. Austin Dorsey, James McGrath, Khari King, and Logan Hallowell (Logan's first-career varsity points) each had a pair.
Middlesex now stands at 13-4 heading into tonight's revenge match-up in the Cage with St. Sebastian's at 6:00pm.Seb's beat the Zebras 61-55 in Needham back on December 6, 2013. In that game, Siu had 20 points while Swenson had 15.
The 25 points that Swenson scored last night gets him to 988 total points in his Middlesex career. The Waltham, MA native has scored 175 points in his last six games, leading the Zebras to five victories and averaging just over 28 points and six assists per game.
