The boys' varsity hockey team ventured to the Brooks School
on Saturday where they lost a highly competitive game 4-2.
Middlesex took an early lead with a goal by sophomore Matthew Banks on a great steal and pass by Sam Carlin. However, Brooks responded with a goal of their own a short time later off a face-off to tie the game at 1-1. Towards the end of the first period, senior captain Mike Menter scored a  power-play goal  on a nifty  shot from the point to the top corner to take back the lead.
Brooks tied the game in the second period on a Middlesex turnover to tie the game at 2-2.
The Bishops came out flying in the third and final period of the game but Middlesex managed to hold them off until a pass out to the slot resulted in a Brooks go-ahead goal. The Zebras came to life in the last five minutes, recording 11 shots on goal, but ultimately it was the hosting team that sent a long shot down the ice with the goalie pulled to close out the scoring.
Tristan Collins finished with 35 saves, including a big save in the second period on a penalty shot
The team returns to the ice on Wednesday, February 5 when they host Roxbury Latin at 4:30pm.
