Middlesex fell just short in their upset bid against rival St. George's as they played their best basketball of the season in a losing effort, 45-60.
The Zebras came out red hot as junior captain Jenna Doherty and freshman Ariana Odom scored 11 and nine points respectively in the first half on pin point shooting.Â
Going into the second stanza, the score was a hotly contested 35-37 with St. George's just edging the Zebras. However, foul trouble haunted the team as they struggled to put the ball in the basket. And with five minutes to go, the Dragons pulled away for good.Â
Junior point guard Kathyrn Barry had a career game as she scored 12 points, played tough defense, and ran the offense effectively. It was a bittersweet contest as it was seniors Tori Burke and Charlotte Silk last game in a Middlesex uniform. Â Their toughness and resilience set the tone for the team and they will be greatly missed.Â
Though the season record was not impressive, Â the girls battled to the end in each and every game. They should be proud. Â Â Â
