Middlesex was off to a slow start in the first half and had to find ways to respond to BB&N's speed and penetration. BB&N controlled most of the first quarter, until Middlesex started to tighten their defense. Once they were able to stop BB&N from scoring, the Zebras then went to work offensively and capitalized off of a size advantage, hammering the ball inside to post player, Ericka Ekhator. In the last play of the first half, BB&N regained momentum, scoring a three at the buzzer.
In the second half, BB&N shots began to fall, and they hit several threes to increase their lead to 10 points over Middlesex. It looked as though the game was slipping away from the Zebras until Ari Odom, and later in the final moments of the game, Jenna Doherty, hit some major threes to make it a two point game. Within the final minute, Jenna Doherty was fouled and went to the line to tie the game. She made the first, but then missed the second. Middlesex played great defense in the final plays of the game, and with .03 seconds had possession of the ball. Receiving the ball from a half court pass, Ericka Ekhator went up for a shot in the paint that went in, but alas, just short of the clock. Middlesex fell 50-49.
A game this close would not have been possible without the defensive efforts of the seniors, Kat Barry, Jenna Doherty, and Kate Wood. Kudos.
