In the season opener, Middlesex came out with a lot of energy, holding Gov's to a mere six points in the first quarter. The defense was fierce; however, Middlesex was unable to generate an offense. Led by senior captains, Kat Barry and Jenna Doherty, the Zebra defense denied their posts scoring opportunities. As the defense tired, Middlesex suffered some mental lapses and gave up some easy baskets, with the momentum of the game in Governor's favor at the half.
In the second half, Middlesex shots continued not to fall, and they had 22 turnovers. Despite a great defensive effort, Middlesex did not capitalize on their possessions, eventually costing them the game.
Middlesex will face BB&N on Friday at home.
