Girls' Soccer Edged at St. George's

11/10/2014 10:33:00 AM

On a cold and blustery afternoon, the Zebras boarded the bus to Newport, R.I. with visions to slay the mighty St. George's Dragons. Middlesex took the field with determination to win this perennial rivalry. The Zebras struggled to shake their bus legs and to negotiate the gusting winds and the Dragons were first to get onto the scoreboard with a strong shot beyond the Zebra in goal. True to form, however, the Zebras continued to battle with strong offensive chances in the box, but they were unable to get it by a strong St. George's goalkeeper. The Dragons scored their second goal from outside the eighteen and over the heads and hands of the defensive and goalkeeping unit.

Middlesex fought hard for control and pressed offensively, but they could not capitalize on some strong corner kicks and ball movement in the box. The whistle blew and the Dragons remained 'unslayed.' It was a tough loss for the end of the season. However, it was a remarkable ten weeks with an incredibly resilient and determined team. The Zebras are still hungry for more victories and they are committed to their off season work to get ready for the Fall 2015. Look out I.S.L and St. George's Dragons!
