Gavin '16 Nets Two in Boys' Soccer Victory

10/9/2014 5:11:00 AM

Gavin Tasker finished from the penalty spot after a goal line ball was handled in the 37th minute, and he scored a beautiful counter attack goal in the 58th minute from a precise Daniel Parnell pass to give the Zebras the 3-2 win over Governor's Academy Wednesday afternoon. With just over seven minutes left on the clock, Middlesex swung the ball from left to right across the back and Jivan Purutyan found Gavin Tasker on the opposite wing. Tasker then played James Sanderson into the box and the ball came off of Sanderson's foot to the opportunistic Brian Powers who settled and then curled the ball with the outside of his right foot and into the side net for the match winner.

Governor's Academy showed great determination in their defending and came very close to a hard earned draw at Middlesex in a mid-week match up. Nick Moore scored on two of Governor's three shots on the day, the first from a penalty kick, and the second on a shot from 20 yards that came down off of the crossbar and in the net from an unconventional assist by Matt Azarela. Gov's keeper Dan Kim made ten saves on the day as well.
